GUIDE · 7 STEPS

How to make a short drama with AI

To make a short drama with AI, pick an agent-media plan, connect it to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex, ask for a series in one line, then approve three things: the plan, the cast with its price, and each script. Every episode comes back as a vertical video of up to 60 seconds with the same two leads. Here is each step, with the prompts that start it.

What you need

  • An agent-media plan. Making starts at $49 a month: 300 seconds at 480p or 150 seconds at 720p.
  • Claude, ChatGPT or Codex. Claude Code and Cursor work too.
  • No other accounts, no API keys and nothing to install.

1. Pick a plan and connect your AI

agent-media is an MCP server: a connection your AI app can call. It works from Claude, ChatGPT and Codex, and from Claude Code and Cursor too.

Start with a plan: sign in, then check out. Right after checkout the app shows your connect link and the steps for the AI you use. You sign in once through the browser. No API keys, no other accounts.

2. Ask for a series and let it interview you

Open a new chat and ask. The interview is free: no paid tool runs while it asks. It asks one multiple-choice question at a time, and you can always answer in your own words.

It covers genre and tone, the audience, the heat level (PG or PG-13), the tropes you like, the language, the format (micro drama or sitcom), the season size (a pilot, 3, 5 or 10 episodes), the episode length (15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds), the resolution, your two leads, the three locations and whether the series is public or private.

If you already have a premise, put it in the first message and the interview gets shorter.

TYPE THIS

“Using agent-media, make me a short drama series. Interview me first.”

3. Pick one of five concepts

Next come five concepts. At least three use an engine that short drama audiences already binge: hidden identity, betrayal then comeback, contract marriage, revenge, or a CEO or heir power gap.

Each concept has a logline with the conflict in its first clause, a three-second hook and a score from 1 to 10 for hook, clarity and freshness. Pick one, or ask for five more.

TYPE THIS

“Using agent-media, make me a short drama series: a maid who secretly owns the company takes revenge on the family that humiliated her. Interview me first.”

4. Approve the story bible and the season grid

The story bible sets the core promise (what the viewer waits for until the finale), who holds power, and up to three secrets, each with the episode where it is planted, half revealed and fully revealed. Each lead gets a sheet: what they want, their wound, their secret and a visual lock for age, hair and wardrobe.

Then the season grid: one row per episode with its goal, its one turn, the cliffhanger and a tension score. Episode 1 is the inciting incident. Episode 3 carries the highest tension so far, because episodes 1 to 3 are free to watch on agent-media and episode 4 is where viewers decide. The grid also shows the season's total seconds against what your plan has left, and the casting price.

5. Approve the cast and the price

Casting is the first paid step, and it runs only after you say yes to the price. It creates two fictional adult leads, each with a portrait and a voice, and three empty sets. Those two faces and three places carry the whole series.

If a lead looks wrong, it can be recast before episode 1. A set can be replaced. Both are paid changes, and you see them before they run.

6. Approve each script, then get the episode

For each episode it writes the timed beats first, then the script. You see all of it: every scene and shot, who is in frame, the exact line, how it is delivered, the seconds, a craft check and the quote. Nothing is filmed until you approve.

The craft rules come from short drama practice. The first line is spoken within one second and runs seven words or fewer. Lines stay at eight words or fewer. Exactly one turn lands between 55% and 75% of the runtime, and the episode ends on a question nobody answers.

Once you approve, the episode is filmed with your cast and comes back as a 9:16 video with captions, a score and a freeze on the last frame.

TYPE THIS

“Make episode 1 of a short drama series about a fired assistant who comes back to buy the company.”

7. Make the next one

Say it in those words. Before writing, it reads the story so far: the facts, who knows what and which loops are still open. Then it writes the next episode for your approval, with the same two leads.

A script can be rewritten until it is queued. Once filming starts it is locked, and a change becomes a new episode.

TYPE THIS

“Make the next one.”

What a finished episode looks like

The Second Key, episode 1, runs 21 seconds. Every line is under eight words, the first one carries a stake (fired), and the power shift lands in the last two lines.

There is no free trial. If you have not filmed an episode within 7 days, your first payment is refunded in full.
